Pan-Mass Challenge 2008: Please help me support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund

It's that time of year again: Spring in New England, when a young man's fancy (OK, a middle-aged man's fancy) turns to long-distance bicycling (or, at least, to long-distance bicycling without balaclavas and booties).  It's time to get more serious about training, and to get serious about fundraising for the Jimmy Fund.

I'll be riding the Pan-Mass Challenge for the 5th time this August, along with over 5000 other spandex-clad bicyclists.  It is a two-day, 200-mile bicycle fundraiser for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund, and its biggest contributor over time.  The PMC fundraising goal this year is $34 million, and over 99 cents of each dollar goes directly to the Dana Farber.  Please join me in supporting this important cause, by going to my PMC profile page and following the egift instructions there.  (You can even see pictures of me in spandex.)   I've raised $30,000 over the past four years, and the PMC as a whole has raised over $100 million over that time.

As regular readers of this blog know, the federales' support for basic research has been shrinking, and we all need to pull together to pick up the slack.  Thanks to all of you who have supported my ride in the past, and I ask that you dig a little deeper this year.

See you on the road!
