Mark Masselli recounts the impressive history of the large multi-site Connecticut-based Community Health Center (Twitter: @CHCConnecticut), which he cofounded, from its humble origins as a free clinic in the 1970s (“Kid … Have you got a license?”) to its current status as an integrated primary care powerhouse with research and training arms. With nearly 800,000 patient visits per year, the organization maintained visit volume as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Community Health Center transitioned to telemedicine.
