Adrian Gropper MD has been a medical device and medical software entrepreneur and advocates for patient control of health data. Adrian has also devised a mechanism to enable patient control of health data, which he calls The HIE of One Trustee. It uses public blockchain, standards and open source software to enable patient-controlled independent health records that can last a lifetime.

We discussed patient-directed exchange, and the 21st Century Cures Act’s health data interoperability provisions, the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), and CMS’s MyHealthEData initiative, as the developing backdrop against which specific solutions will be built.

spoke with Adrian as part of my ongoing series of fireside chats with healthcare innovation leadersHarlow on Healthcare, on HealthcareNOW Radio. You can catch me live weekdays at 8:30 am, 4:30 pm and 12:30 am ET. As each new show goes live, the last one joins the archive, available via SoundCloud or your favorite podcast app (iTunes, Stitcher, iHeartRadio). Your comments are welcome here.
