Here are a few recent press mentions which may be of interest:

1. Solving Healthcare's Big Data Analytics Security Conundrum

CIO.com covered the presentation I gave at Strata Rx on the idea of patient-controlled donation of data for purposes of data analysis. Putting control in the hands of patients avoids some potential HIPAA issues and may make for richer data sets.

2. Voice of the Patient

Healthcare IT News ran a cover story in its November issue on the use of Open Notes at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. See further discussion of the piece and links to more information on Open Notes at e-patients.net. I was interviewed on the issue of patients' rights to access their own medical records.

3. Healthcare IT Predictions for 2014

The folks at Orion Health asked me to offer a few fearless predictions on Health IT in the coming year. Check back in a year and let me know how I did.

4. The Digital Health Revolution

A German cultural quarterly magazine (Kulturaustausch) asked me to contribute an introduction to digital health for a general readership. I offered my sense of where we are and where we may be headed.

So is there a common thread running through these stories?  I think so. Health data. That is the stock in trade of the new health economy, and we cannot ignore the ways in which it can be used or misused.
