CMS is trawling for providers and suppliers providing free emergency care to undocumented aliens. It has $250 million a year available through FFY 2008 under Section 1011 of the MMA (divided among the states mostly based on undocumented alien population; Massachusetts’ annual allotment, for example, is about $2 million), but has spent less than $100 million over the first two years.
